Lot 44 , An early 17th century needlework panel of King Ahasuerus receiving Esther, 16.75 x 21in.

An early 17th century needlework panel of King Ahasuerus receiving Esther, 16.75 x 21in.

An early 17th century needlework panel of King Ahasuerus receiving Esther, framed and glazed, 16.75 x 21in.
Estimate £500-700

Overall the panel is a little faded and yellowed with a loss of definition, it has been mounted on a board and framed so cannot be inspected outside the glass, there appears to be some degeneration of the backing to the top left corner and the upper right edge, the figure of the Queen maybe lacking one or two details around her middle, the panel appears to be largely complete as subject matter fits neatly in the frame, maybe lacking slightly on the margins.
