oil on canvas
Portrait of Alex, Youngest son of Sir William Board Bart
monogrammed
57.5 x 34in.
Estimate £3,000-5,000

Oil on canvas relined many years ago, canvas remains tight, paint is rather dusty and dirty with discolouration of the varnish, looks to have been some infilling of old craquelure around the edge of the lower part of his jacket, particularly where it meets above the trousers but otherwise very good original condition, housed in an ornate and almost certainly original gilt gesso frame which again is a little dusty and dirty but otherwise good but for some very minor dents and scratches, title plaque giving details of the artist and sitter to the front, Bourlet & Sons label verso, giving the owner as a Mrs Copeman, otherwise stamp on the stretcher from the stretcher and an old rather faded frame makers label across the top, overall good condition but does need a clean.

Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging. Interested bidders are strongly encouraged to request a condition report on any lots upon which they intend to bid, prior to placing a bid.
