This piece looks to have been made to fit into an alcove, the back left and right corners have been cut at an angle of nearly 45 degrees which is probably a later adaption, there are holes at the back corners showing where there was once a brass rail attached, the top itself is of fairly even mid reddish brown mahogany colour with typical wear and scuffing commensurate with age, front of the piece is slightly darker in tone, with some slight patchiness in finish to the front edge of the top, one very small insert of veneer and otherwise some restaining that could be improved upon, central drawer has small dents and losses to the lower corners, left and right drawers have small dents to the left and right sides, the underframe is of slightly darker good rich original colour with all the brasswork looking original albeit slightly oxidised, feet show a little wear from polishing, back feet are a dull bronze colour, front feet lighter, ebonised plinth feet may be later additions and show typical scuffing to the corners.
