Oil on canvas which has been relined many years ago, the original canvas looking rather thin with some losses particularly near the left corner, paint looks rather scrubbed and worn with some flaking below the beard and further losses around the hairline but the actual face itself actually looks in fairly good order, some further old losses of paint from the beard, signed lower left, not framed, a plain white label applied verso inscribed Hammond.
