Two Japanese lacquered tortoiseshell cigar cases, Meiji period, one decorated with a lady to each side and the other with a crane amid pine and flowers, H. 8.7cm

The cigar case decorated with a lady to each side has some minor wear to the gilt decoration and some occasional minor scratches. The inner sleeve has narrowed in at the aperture, possibly where it has been subjected to heat.
Second case decorated with a crane amid pine tree has some occasional scratching to the surface, minor wear to the gilt decoration and scuffing to the inner sleeve.
