As well as being an avid collector of early Derby porcelain, Dr. Dennis G. Rice was an academic and wrote one of the key reference works on the subject - 'Derby Porcelain, The Golden Years 1750-1770' published in 1983. A number of the pieces illustrated in the book will be offered for sale.


The blue tit ex Mercury Antiques, May 1998 for £240.
The goldfinch ex Bishop (Marlow) Ltd., June 1980 for £320.

The blue tit has been broken in two places around the stem/base and re-stuck and has restoration to the tail and leaves.
The goldfinch has old discoloured restoration and losses to the applied flowers and a manufacturing? chip to the edge of the foot
