Two Chinese Paktong ink boxes, Guangxu period, the first engraved with birds amid branches and with an inscription, the second with lobsters to the cover with a two character inscription, both with makers stamps to the underside, 9.5cm and 8cm

From the collection of a Hong Kong Tea Merchant who worked for Jardine Matheson & Co Ltd, before 1940.

Both boxes with some wear to the marks on the underside, occasional minor scratching essentially in reasonable condition. The boxes may well be mid 20th century in date.
