Suzie Zamit explains how she works: “I model in clay and, if possible, I prefer to work directly from the sitter in my studio in St Leonards, but I can travel if necessary. Ideally, three or four sessions of two or three hours are involved, sitting comfortably on a swivel chair, which I will turn a little every few minutes – and maybe listening to an audio book together. The first session involves taking a few measurements and photos so that I can carry on working on the commission between sittings or for source material if only one or no sittings possible.

“The finished head can be fired and/or cast into either plaster, bronze resin or bronze and mounted on a wooden block or base of client’s choice. The whole process could be over a few weeks or months.”
