Oil on canvas relined some years ago, canvas remains tight, paint looks a little dirty with some fine craquelure showing in the lighter tones notably his forehead and cravat, a broader stable craquelure showing in the darker parts of the paint, the black areas and the back of the chair particularly, no signed of any signature, one small dented sport showing to the left of his head easily retouchable, housed in an old and possibly the original gilt gesso scroll frame which shows a few small losses, measurements given are for the canvas only, an additional 10 inches should be added to each measurement to allow for the frame.
