Fleming’s sixth James Bond novel. First-impression issue point with “jelled” for “gelled” on p. 14, line 2. First-state binding with plain upper board, without the dancing-lady silhouette found on the later binding.

Publisher’s original black cloth clean and well preserved, with the silver lettering and device to the spine remaining bright. Some spotting to the fore-edge, more concentrated towards the lower portion, with occasional minor spotting to the endpapers; contents otherwise generally clean and fresh. Pencil inscription to the front free endpaper. In the original dust jacket, retaining the 13s. 6d. net price; jacket with some toning and light signs of handling and rubbing to the extremities, but presenting well overall. Small area of expert restoration to folds on dust wrapper with no loss. The volume is additionally preserved in a custom-made leather clam-shell box.
