Lot 624 , Regency mahogany secretaire bookcase(-)

Regency mahogany secretaire bookcase(-)

A Regency mahogany secretaire bookcase, with lozenge shaped astragal glazed doors over a satinwood lined writing drawer and three graduated long drawers, on bracket feet, W.3ft 6in. D.1ft 9in. H.7ft
Estimate £150-200

Bookcase top is almost certainly a marriage to the chest base, however makes for a good match, brass roundels to the sides of the cornice look inappropriate, some cracks running at the top right corner just above the secretaire drawer, similarly cracked on the opposing side although these do look like old stable cracks now, a little light scuffing and chipping to the veneer across the apron but otherwise good order, good even colour match, key present for both doors and drawer, shelves look original, skiver is a later replacement of reasonable quality and overall the interior is very good, sides particularly of the bookcase top are not of the same quality veneer as that of the front, overall a reasonable piece of furniture and at the given estimate sensibly priced.
