Major Bellingham Smith. Father John and mother Elizabeth, Born Sept. 4, 1790 in Middlesex England. Served in India and was a member of the 11th Light Dragoons. Married to Priscilla Graham, died July 8, 1866.

Condition:
Oil on original canvas, a little saggy with a torn cross near the top of his head, paint rather dirty, signed and dated lower left, in the original giltwood frame which is now a little rubbed and has extensive worm holes on the back, hand inscribed label verso giving details of the sitter, together with a collector label for Colonel W.D. Tompson.
