A large leather bound folio of 19th century sketches and watercolours,
to include domestic and Continental street scenes, landscapes, castles, and buildings and others, most inscribed with the date and location, the works mounted to approximately 70 large cards, with between 1-10 works per card, the green hinged folio bound in green leather with gilt tooling and lettering "Sketches by P.N.B."
Philip North Brockedon was educated as a civil engineer, and was favourite pupil of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, but sadly died of consumption at the age of 28, on 13 November 1849. He was the son of the 19th century English painter, writer and inventor, William Brockedon (1787-1854)
