Paul Sandby RA (1730-1809) Warwick Castle, c.1775
watercolour and ink en grisaille, signed and dated 1775.
Aquatints of the same composition were published by the artist in January 1776.
29 x 45cm
£500-700

Condition:
Watercolour on off white paper laid down onto card, this looks to be the original work from which the aquatint was taken and showing undulation across the work along with a number of small scattered dirt specks and some very light surface scuffing towards the lower left, washline mount and glazed plain oak frame, inscription verso relating to the aquatint. Since photography, painting has moved upward within mount, now revealing signature and date on a stone, beneath the dog.
