Estimate £1,500-2,500

Both oils on canvas relined many years ago, now canvas's remain tight but both are rather dirty, he with a fine craquelure running throughout the paint and raising slightly in the darker areas, she with a slightly broader heavier craquelure particularly running through her skin stones, some blooming in the varnish particularly to the right of her head, both in matching later carved giltwood frames, very dirty particularly to the backs but should restore to good effect.
Both pictures believed to date to the 18th century. Provenance. Deceased estate.
