Oil on original canvas in somewhat neglected condition, canvas remains tight but has suffered with a notable hole punctured through it above the sitters shoulder and a further small dented tear up near 11 o'clock, otherwise paint has fine but stable craquelure running throughout and is very dirty, no sign of a signature, housed in the original parcel gilt oak frame with Cardinal's hat crest, inscribed on the back of the frame 'oak from St Marys belfry, Oxford', no other labels or inscriptions.
