A George III mahogany secretaire bookcase, with broken arch cornice and two astragal glazed doors over a double dummy drawer enclosing fitted interior, and three graduated long drawers on carved ogee bracket feet, W.3ft 8in. D.1ft 10in. H.7ft 10in.

Upper section all in very good condition of dark brown red mahogany tone evenly throughout, right hand door has a possibly later lock and key although it fits the space perfectly, internally it has two adjustable shelves, secretaire drawer has original illusional working lock with key, interior has central mirrored door with working lock and key, internal drawers including stepped front drawer below the small door are all oak lined with the grain running from left to right, centre section of the door, stepped drawer and pilasters can be released from a secret button and pulls out completely so that two drawers behind the pilasters can be pulled out, handles look to be later replacements, the holes at the back do not quite align and there are signs of old holes being plugged, this is also the case with the long drawers below which have oak linings running from front to back and have what look to be original locks but no key, colour to the base marginally lighter than the top but still off good rich colour and patina, minor small dents and scuffs to the sides, carved feet with a little wear commensurate with use, overall looks to be in very good condition.
