Dimitri Chiparus (1886-1947). An early 20th century French ivory, patinated and cold painted bronze figure 'La Danseuse Ayouta', modelled in a dancing pose, the costume highlighted with gilt and polychrome jewelling, raised on the stepped white onyx base signed D. Chiparus, height 18.25in.
Overall appears to be in good condition with some very light wear to the extremities of the cold painted jewelling, there is a very small slight imperfection to the shin of the raised leg - a small dent, the hands appear to be in good condition with no obvious chips or losses, the neck and face likewise are in good condition apart from a series of discoloured shrinkage cracks to the ivory, the base is in good condition apart from some very minor chips and abrasions and would benefit from a clean.
Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports. The absence of a condition statement does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition or completely free from wear and tear, imperfections or the effects of aging.
