Note: An Austrian poet, dramatist and philosopher, Kralik was keen to re-establish a culture based on folklore and religion. He was active in founding the Catholic Writers Association or 'Gralbund', whose magazine 'The Grail' was published from 1906 to 1937. On the reverse of the painting he is referred to as the 'Poet Laureate of Christian Socialism'
