John Wickes of London. An early 19th century mahogany wall dial timepiece, the silvered Roman dial with date indicator above 12 o'clock, unsigned single fusee movement with anchor escapement and tapered backplate, 40cm diameter 14.5cm deep
£600-800

Condition:
Looks to have been restored within the past ten years or so, brass bezel with some very light oxidisation spots, original key a little stiff in what looks to be the original lock, silvered dial in good clean order as is the movement which is complete but not tested for timekeeping, oak back of case equally in good restored condition, label for a clock repaired dated 1980 to the lower door, no pendulum present or winding key. Diameter of dial 11.5 inches. Door to base of case does not have a lock infact the whole back of the case looks to be a later replacement, this is based on the construction of the timber, the difference and placing of the hinges together with their crudeness, the constructions of the doors and the latches that hold them in place. The key that comes with the clock is for the lock on the bezel.
