John Moyr Smith for Minton Chinaworks. A rare 13 piece creamware dessert service, c.1875-80, each octagonal dish or plate decorated with scenes from Shakespeare's plays in circular medallions surrounded by flowerheads, impressed mark Mintons, dishes 23.5cm wide

All three of the footed dishes have fine crazing to the glaze with some occasional staining to the pottery body, all ten of the plates have fine crazing to the glaze and only one has some damage which comprises a splinter chip to the underside of one corner of the edge and a crack extending from the edge to the foot, otherwise in good condition, there is only repition from one plate to one dish with the Hamlet design otherwise all the other plates and dishes have different scenes from Shakespeare on them.
