A large Japanese Satsuma pottery ovoid vase and stand, by Kinkozan, late 19th century, painted to one side with sages on horseback in a winter landscape and with a parrot perched beside a basket of chrysanthemums, on an iron red ground decorated with mon and flowers flanked by a pair of flowerhead and ring handles, the base and stand with flower and scrollwork borders, impressed mark and gilt inscribed mark to vase, 58cm., damages

Damage to the vase as follows:
- there is a 45mm chip to the rim
- there are losses to both ring handles with some loose pieces still present
- the brown ground has some water staining to it
- there is some wear to the gilding in the raised areas
- there is a feint body crack on the exterior, more visible on the interior
- the base of the vase has been broken and re-stuck with two sections measuring 3.5cm and 3cm lacking

The stand has chips around the top edge.
