ink and watercolour,
Lewes Castle from the cemetery,
signed and inscribed Lewes 1792,
13 x 18in.
Estimate £800-1,200

Ink and watercolour on paper in an honest untouched condition, slight undulation of the paper showing so thought not to be laid down, where the paper is not painted there is some very slight yellowish discolouration showing, one or two small scattered dirt marks showing across the sky along with perhaps one or two light foxing marks, nothing very notable, some very light creasing towards the top left hand corner with a slight horizontal mark to the left of the left tower, inscribed in ink and dated lower left, watercolours no doubt a little faded but still retaining fair differential of colour, original watercolour and ink washlines now looking a little discoloured, beyond that now a fairly recent cream card mount and slim gilt frame.
