Henri Jacot. A late 19th century French quarter repeating carriage clock, circa 1885, with ormolu and glass case with enamelled inner dial within a pierced foliate scroll border and movement striking on two blued steel gongs, Jacot mark, 10cm wide, 8.5cm deep, 15.5cm high

Condition:
Gilt-brass case dirty and seems to have been treated with some protective solution; dial, all glasses and pierced masks good. Movement has been wound, balance rotates but cannot be sustained beyond half a dozen revolutions; quarter-strike mechanism similarly dis-functional although repeat facility working but out of synchronisation. Backplate with Jacot stamp; lever-operated strike options to underside. No key.
