Estimate £1,000-1,500
Oil on the original canvas which is showing a very slight sag but otherwise remains in very honest untouched condition, paint is very dirty and will enormously improve with a clean, some fine star cracks of craquelure particularly around the body of the right side horse, possibly one minute scratch behind the back legs of the left horse but overall in very good honest order, signed and dated lower right, the names of the horses were once on the slip of the frame, the left hand horse is called Flexible but the other naming has now rubbed away, housed in its original giltwood frame which is now rather dirty and battered. Old depository label verso along with dealers label for Baird-Carter.
