Oil on original canvas which remains tight, paint looks rather dirty with one or two fine surface scuffs and scratches particularly near the lower left, one patched repair to damage that appears to be between the left herdsman and the nearest goat, but overall other than this repair looks to be in honest original condition, housed in what looks to be the original gilt gesso frame which has now suffered a number of small losses. West Ham Three Picture Exhibitions label verso along with an old Maple & Co label. Christie's stencil number which ties into a sale 20 January 1911, owner was F S F Schloss, Lot 76. F. Goodall RA Banks of The Nile 14.5 x 30.5 sold for 10 guineas.
