Four gold pencil holders, English and French, late 19th - 20th century, comprising two examples, English c.1840, with flutes and bulbous scrolling borders, one with amethyst matrix engraved with a cat and a 'Mew', with handwritten note: given to Maj. Crewe by Lady Summerwell many years ago, the other stamped: S. Mordan & Co - makers and patenter, the third Garrard & Co., London, plain gold, engraved Good Luck in the New Century / Mentmore / January 1st 1901, stamped: R & S Garrard & Co, 25 Haymarket, in original silk case, the last a pen holder, French, applied with a question mark in rose diamonds and rubies, surmounted by a pearl, case for Carrington & Co, casemaker's stamp K for Carl Jacob Kitz, largest 6in.
