Condition:
Oil on original canvas which is now a little saggy, paint very dark with a shiny varnish, and a fine craquelure running throughout, some undulation of the canvas and notable group of small tears running through the lemon in the small dish, a further dented patch of deeper craquelure just to the left of it, otherwise undulation in the canvas elsewhere, viewed from behind - a crude patch which is starting to peel away from the damage in the lemon, an old handwritten label inscribed 'from the collection of M. de C Laukis?.. an authentic example of the work of Jean-Baptiste Chardin'. No other labels or inscriptions.
