Oil on canvas cleaned, relined and restored 20 - 30 years ago or so, canvas remains tight but shows some slight overall undulation, paint looks a little dirty, some fine craquelure showing in the skin tones, the scarf, wig and coat all look to have seen some overpainting and it does look like much of this work has been overpainted, housed in a slightly distressed 18th century gilt gesso frame which has been overpainted with gold paint, no labels or inscriptions verso.
Came in as a companion to Lot 493.
