'To Make an Oyster Pye'; To Pickle Purslane Stalk, and French Beans; To make Almond Puffes'. A few are credited - 'Lady Burditts Recipe To Make Cowslipp Wine; Mrs Harsells Plumb Cake'. Included amongst the dozen or so medicinal ones are - 'A Most Excellent Medecine against y. Plague'; and others for Scurvy, Venom removal, and a 'Lipp Salve'; 'Stoughtons Elixer' - based on 'four Civill Oringes', with a pint of brandy added - should have been a favourite pick-me-up for most (whilst possibly flooring others?!)

Condition:
Binding with lt. wear, panelled on covers and spine, some leaves loose at front; a few text marks and spots - gen. reasonably clean; old signature of 'A Barton' pencilled faintly head of title. Signed once on the front free e/p.; not rebacked etc., inner hinges tape strengthened; 1 leaf loose. Only 'provenance' (we did ask) is that vol. came to client from her deceased father (not a bk. collector etc.)
