Early 18th century English School
oil on canvas
Portrait of a young lady with a parrot and peaches
oval, 29 x 24in.
Estimate £500-800
Oil on canvas cleaned relined and restored 10 - 20 years ago or so, canvas remains tight, paint clean with a fine but stable craquelure running throughout but most noticeable as usual through the flesh and white tones, some speckling around 7 o'clock which looks like it needs to be cleaned away, possibly water marking, signs of overpainting to the blue and russet browns of the clothing, peaches and her right hand may well be embellishments, also looks to have been repainted for the background and her hair, housed in a period gilt frame which suffers a few small losses but fair state of gilding. No labels or inscriptions verso.
