Denis Hillman ( 1924 - 2011) was a Fellow of the International Guild of Miniature Artisans, and widely regarded as one of the finest ever exponents of the art of making miniature furniture. His speciality was miniatures of Louis XV and XVI furniture, which included a copy of the famous Bureau du Roi, which took five years to complete, containing over 16,000 individual pieces. This, along with other remarkable pieces by Hillman, are in the Ede & Ravenscroft collection, currently on exhibition in the U.S.A His work was the subject of a BBC programme - A Small World, in 1977 (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-EjJmVtUyo )The present sale is a rare chance to acquire the work of a master of this exacting art form, whose pieces seldom come on the market.
