Lot 114 , David Gordon of Dublin. A George III twin fusee bracket clock movement and dial, 19in.

David Gordon of Dublin. A George III twin fusee bracket clock movement and dial, 19in.

David Gordon of Dublin. A George III twin fusee bracket clock movement and dial, in an associated mahogany case, 19in.
Estimate £800-1,200

Case in honest condition with a reasonably good colour but rather dull finish, top handle slightly loose and discoloured, vertical splits running above and below the glazed panel on the right side and just below the glazed panel on the left side, key not present for front door which is unlocked, dial all looks original and good, blanking plate in place of where a false pendulum would typically show, later escutcheon applied to the back door which has small restorations running around the edges particularly top left corner again no key but remains unlocked. Movement showing a few prominent vacant holes in the backplate, two of which might have been to secure the pendulum when travelling, the others appears to be where the escapement has been altered probably from verge to anchor, siting of bell also looks a little low, backplate is in engraved with the makers details. Overall a handsome clock in honest condition.
