The Second Edition (edited by Robert Braham); the first having been printed by Richard Pynson in 1513. title within a generous pictorial woodcut border depicting the English monarchy as a family tree. signatures - (A)2, B-Z6, Aa-Cc6, Dd and Ee4 (but lacks 2 leaves in gathering N); black letter in double column; (158)ff., ex 160; colophon on recto of final leaf. sometime rebound calf backed marbled boards, spine gilt lettered direct, folio. Imprinted at London....by Thomas Marshe, 1555 Provenance: From the private collection of the late Terry Jones (1942-2020), known for his roles as a writer, comedian, and member of the Monty Python comedy troupe.

Lacks N2 and N4 (?); title damaged with all round loss (backed with archive paper repair), central section incl. printed title itself intact; (A2) and B1 damaged fore and lower edges with loss at approx. 100 line ends, B2-B4 hole in foremargins only sl. loss, C3 and C4 misbound, C4 tear from lower margin into text - only sl. loss over 5 lines, D1 v.sl. loss lower fore-edge corner (catchword). From D2 through towards end at Cc6 mostly undamaged (save some corner creasing, light stains etc., all text legible); P6 marked stains, xi tear from margin (v.sl.loss); Dd1-Ee2 some fore-edge margin and corner damage/creasing (3/4 words affected), Ee3 damaged more (approx. 12 word loss at line ends), Dd4 recto. with printing flaw (text partly illegible). Binding 'adequate', e/ps. replaced
