oil on wooden panel that shows some slight curving and undulation, an old split running down the middle of the picture which has old repairs and strengthening showing from the back, a further diagonal split running across the bottom right corner which has an old canvas reinforced repair, otherwise paint looks rather dark and dirty, a fine craqeulure running through the flesh tones and into the darker area behind the head, area to the right of the head particularly to the top right corner looks overpainted, one flake of paint at the margin at 3 o'clock, no sign of any signature or inscriptions, housed in an old gilt gesso frame which is now rather tatty, old Christie's inventory number verso which looks like 90HR, lots of signs of old worming showing through the back of the panel.
