A glass mascot by René Lalique, introduced on 26/8/1925, No.1122 in clear and frosted glass with a slight amethyst tint, signed moulded in relief R.LALIQUE and engraved FRANCE underneath, on original Breves Galleries lighting display radiator cap mount, height overall 13.5cm. Length 14cm.

André Citroën approached René Lalique to come up with an appropriate design for his new 5CV (Chevaux Vapour) motorcar, what Lalique produced was a marvellous concept reflecting the car in animal form. This being the first official car mascot produced for a specific make of automobile.

One tiny raised sharp point on the top of the mane and a tiny bruise/chip over the 'rump' of the horses otherwise very good condition, mount has not been removed for inspection of the base as is fixed in place.
