Oil on original canvas essentially in good clean condition, appears to have been cleaned within the past 10 years or so with a fairly fresh shiny varnish over the work, one small repaired hole in the sky directly above the figures (and 3 inches below the top) which has been retouched to fair effect, showing slightly darker blue than elsewhere and has been painted also from behind, signed and dated lower right, unusually with the signature and date running vertically upwards through the work in the wet stand 2 inches to the left of the lower right corner, comes in its original gilt slip frame but no further outer frame, no labels or inscriptions verso, other than the mentioned repair no sign of any overpainting.
