Condition:
Oil on canvas relined many years ago, canvas remains tight, paint a little dirty and dusty, with slight stretcher marks showing and fine but stable craquelure throughout, some small losses to the canvas at the bottom margin near 6 o'clock, erroneous attribution plaque to Thomas Hudson on the frame, a horizontal line 6 inches up from the base presumably where the canvas was once folded for a different frame, housed in an old giltwood frame with numerous small rubbings and losses. Provenance: Anon sale Christie's 10 June 2003, lot 32 as by Charles Jervas; Christie's 18 October 1985 lot 135 as by Charles Jervas Anon sale Christie's London 14 July 1989 102 as by Henry Pickering ( unsold).
