Attributed to William Ashford (1746-1824)
oil on canvas
Figures overlooking a rocky gorge
18 x 25in.
Estimate £500-800

Oil on canvas relined many years ago, canvas remains tight, paint looks dirty and discoloured with some fine craquelure running in the blue of the sky, apparently unsigned, under glass in an old probably original gilt gesso frame which is now rather tatty with attribution plaque to the artist on the front, no labels or inscriptions verso. Nothing noted under UV light.
