Attributed to Maurice Robin & Cie, a fine and rare pair of Art Deco natural pearl and diamond earrings, Paris, circa 1920

Attributed to Maurice Robin & Cie, a fine and rare pair of Art Deco natural pearl and diamond earrings, Paris, circa 1920, each composed of chain links, the final link suspending a natural pearl pendant measuring approximately 6.5mm diameter within a drop-shaped border, set throughout with circular-cut diamonds, mounted in platinum, length 5.5cm each excluding later hook fittings, French assay marks for platinum and partial maker's mark MR&Cie for Maurice Robin, fitted case stamped Goldsmiths & Silversmiths company

A verbal report from GCS states that the pearls are natural, saltwater.

Maurice Robin was a jeweller based at 11 Rue Chabanais, Paris, best known for his jewels in the Art Nouveau style. The present pair of earrings, remarkable for the extraordinary delicacy of their platinum mounts, bears the version of his firm's mark that was used from 1903-1923.
£2,000-3,000

Condition:
Later hook fittings, easily removed and replaced. A small patch of darker lead solder to the reverse of each of the top links, possibly as part of the manufacture to attach a hoop to secure the attaching link rather than repair - no obvious break, and not particularly obvious solder in any case. Pearls are of excellent quality, well-matched for white body colour, high lustre and overall pinkish orient. Both in good condition. Overall a superb pair of earrings in good condition.
