Condition:
Both oils on canvas relined many years ago, his canvas remains tight and very dirty with a fine but stable craquelure running throughout the paint, light white surface dirt marks showing, both portraits painted within ornate scrolling cartouches, old moulded mahogany frames with attribution labels, she with horizontal lines running across the canvas suggesting that at one time it may have been rolled up, slightly raised at the very top and with some paint flaking across the middle.
