Thick painted plaster effectively tempera finish to the panel which shows some undulation and a cracked line of separation running approx 3 inches in from margin, otherwise paint looking dirty with a number of surface flaws, the more recent one showing as bright white where plaster beneath is revealed, this is particularly prevalent down right side but also clearly evident in left heads nose. Housed in an ornate 19th century frame which has been over painted black and gold. Old Christies stencil no. 59SD verso.
