Boullemier, on an apple green ground, impressed marks, shape number 803 and date code for 1871, height 50cm

It is know Minton 'obtained from Queen Victoria the loan of a number of priceless Sevres vases, which were reproduced exactly, Boullemier and Leroy executing the painting, and Aaron Simpson the gilding.'

Antonin Boullemier's work was displayed at the 1878 Exposition Universelle, Paris, May 1 to November 10, 1878, 'much and admiring interest has been taken in the 'Prometheus Vases' in turquoise; the handsome vases with cupids by Boullemier, after Angelica Kauffman.' The first vase (Spring & Autumn) has two short feint hairline cracks to the rim and a short feint hairline crack to the beaded moulding on the pedestal foot. The cover has a hairline crack. The second vase (Winter & Summer) has some minor chip losses to the bottom of one leaf and berry swag. Otherwise both vases are in good condition with no restoration
