An unusual late 19th early 20th century Chinese silk embroidered robe, made for the tiger role, Jing, who symbolises power, bravery, protection and royalty. A character often used in Chinese opera, theatre and performing arts. The robe intricately converted specifically for this role in the early 20th century was gifted a few years later to the owner’s family.
Robe length 140cm. Condition - has some wear but is to be expected for its age and use.
