An unusual Bohemian Art Nouveau ruby overlaid clear glass lamp base and shade, c.1905, the mushroom dome shaped cover decorated with stylised tulips and 'whiplash' tendrils, on a slender hexagonal baluster stem and a circular foot, with similar gilt 'whiplash' tendril decoration and a vermicular gilt decorated red overlaid ground, height 58.5cm

The glass shade stem and base have slight wear to the gilding particularly the vermicular decoration, otherwise there are no chips or cracks, the gilded copper ring support for the shade has a number of old splits and some occasional solder repairs to it and is a bit undulating and dented in place but is structurally sound to hold the shade, a few of the glass drops which are suspended from this ring are lacking the tips and there are also a quantity of loose drops which are lacking the metal loops to suspend them from the shade.
