An ornate Victorian pierced silver inkstand, by Benjamin Smith III, of rectangular form, with engraved armorial, two mounted cut glass bottles and central taperstick, on scroll feet, London 1849, 9.5in., 14.5oz.

Two silver nuts missing from underneath. The taperstich and both the inkwell lids have holes within the repousse decoration. There is a split within the decoration in the recess for one of the wells and there are at least 8 small old repairs to the pierced decoration on the stand itself, mainly visible from underneath, in the form of solder. The glass receiver for the taperstick may be later. Marks clear.
