An impressive Burmantofts turquoise glazed faience ‘giant shell’ jardiniere and stand, c.1900, the jardiniere modelled as a giant shell above rocks, seaweed and shells, the pedestal modelled as a mooring post with rings and rope encrusted with seaweed and shells, impressed mark ‘Burmantofts Faience England 1127’ to stand and monogram mark to jardiniere, total height 154cm, jardiniere 85cm across, small glaze losses and some weathering

Condition:
Some occasional small glaze losses and some weathering to the glaze which has turned opaque white in some areas most notably on the base. The top of the pedestal has chips losses one third of the collar and other glaze losses. This is obscured when the jardiniere is placed on top. The bottom of the jardiniere has a few splinter chips hidden when on to of the pedestal. Jardiniere wobbly on the base and may be associated. otherwise in good condition with no restoration or cracks detected.
