This lot may be viewed in situ, in a Lewes property, a short walk from Gorringe’s galleries.

Prospective viewers will be asked to provide proof of identity, either a passport or a driving license, a copy of which will be taken. A member of Gorringe’s staff will also attend.

Buyers to remove the chimneypiece, within three weeks of purchase, to include removing all residue, resulting from dismantling.

Condition:
Numerous minor chips to the bevelled top, cosmetic blemishes and marks to the top commensurate with age, wear and some loss to the feet of the cherub in the central cartouche, some loss and cracking to the left wing of the left figure in central cartouche, wear/loss to the flowers and foliage surrounding the central cartouche, minor losses to the floral mounts, primarily to the left hand side of the piece, minor chips and scuffing throughout, commensurate with age and generations of interaction in the room – please see images of defects. 177 wide maximum. 45cm deep centrally (maximum). 128cm high maximum.
