An early 20th century Indian ivory mounted tortoiseshell jewellery casket, decorated with a goddess and two elephants, the fitted interior with watch holder, ring holders and other compartments, 10.5in.

The top is slightly bowed and lifting to each side of the lid with a slight gap between the ivory band and the side, many of the ivory 'straps' on the border of the cover have split into two pieces with some occasional losses and three halves completely missing.
One ivory strap has a chip on the side of the box and the straps on the apron are mostly loose and will rotate. There is a splinter loss to the tortoiseshell sandalwood where the knuckle of the fold out bracket support to the cover folds down. On the interior there is a split to the ivory top of one ring holder and the join between the panels on the base of the tray have opened up. Otherwise in reasonable condition for age.
