An early 19th century cross stitch alphabet sampler, dated 1826, by Clara Newey, aged 8 years. Worked in black, pink, green and red wool with a central religious verse. 23cm wide x 27.5cm high. Condition - some fading to the coloured threads and marks to backing. But there are not holes, both backing and embroidery are strong.
